Environmental Laboratory Technician

Position Description

As an Environmental Laboratory Technician, you will work independently and with other lab technicians to perform a variety laboratory testing according to established procedures and quality control methods to meet the needs of our clients. Your workload will vary somewhat with the season, but you can expect to work a full 40-hour week year-round with occasional holiday and weekend hours required.

Job Duties
  • Performs all assigned lab testing according to procedural and quality manuals.
  • Performs laboratory quality control tasks as assigned.
  • Maintains glassware and other lab equipment according to specifications.
  • Performs general laboratory clean-up such as removing garbage/recycling, cleaning equipment, and other general cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Completes other miscellaneous duties as assigned such as labeling bottles, filing paperwork, collecting water samples, assembling water testing kits.
  • Available to work occasional holidays and weekends. Weekends are assigned on a five-week rotation and typically require 2-3 hours of work on Saturday. Expect to work 1-2 holidays per year with the typical time worked around 2-3 hours each time.

Requirements
  • Minimum of two years post-secondary education and/or associate’s degree
  • Work experience, coursework or a degree in science is preferred (i.e. chemistry, biology, environmental science, engineering, nursing, etc.).
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and will use both hands to perform required functions of the job.
Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time hourly position with a starting wage of $16.00-17.00 per hour based on experience. You can expect annual raises and year-end bonuses based on job performance.
